Acoustic Doors

Complete Specification Guide: Acoustic Doors

Standard solid-core doors fail to provide adequate acoustic isolation for sensitive environments like recording studios, theaters, or heavy industrial plant rooms. Our engineered acoustic doors are designed to block the full spectrum of frequencies, achieving STC ratings from 42 to 55+.

Material and Core Construction:

Depending on the acoustic target and application, we manufacture both acoustic wood and acoustic steel doors. The internal structure features constrained layer damping, utilizing alternating layers of high-density acoustic insulation, mass-loaded barriers, and decoupling layers. This dense composite structure effectively absorbs low-frequency vibrations and blocks high-frequency transmission.

The Importance of Acoustic Frames and Seals:

An acoustic door must be installed as a complete system with its engineered frame. Sound behaves like water—it will exploit the smallest air gap. Our door sets feature proprietary frames with integrated perimeter compression seals. We utilize cam-lift hinges or heavy-duty hinges combined with automatic drop-down bottom seals. As the door closes, the drop seal mechanically lowers to compress against the threshold, creating an airtight acoustic barrier.

Specialized Applications:

For recording studios and audiometry rooms, we offer tandem (double-door) configurations to achieve maximum isolation. For industrial applications, our heavy-duty acoustic steel doors provide fire-rating alongside noise control, protecting personnel from machinery noise. All hardware, from multi-point locks to acoustic vision panels, is pre-installed to ensure factory-tested performance.

Technical FAQs

What STC range do your acoustic doors cover?
